We learned a fantastic song in E6 this week that tells us how we are all different - and that is a great thing! We are all special, unique individuals.  We have been talking about how we are all special and unique and awesome at different things.  This song helps us to celebrate that!


E6 Super Stars you all have a copy of the words to the song in your poem books.  Maybe someone at home can help you read the words while you listen to Kath Bee singing the song on this you tube clip I found.  Remember, it is a tricky song to sing in patches but the more we practice, the better we will get!

When we are 100 ...

This week we went on a journey around the classroom using our imaginations.  We went time traveling into the future and pretended we were 100 years old.  We walked around the room as if we were 100 and we talked to each other as if we were 100!  We thought about how our skin and our bones would feel if we were 100 years old!  We wondered about the sorts of things we would do if we were 100 years old.


We used big bright waxy crayons to create some portraits of what we think we will look like if we make it to 100 years old!

Nga Akonga o te Wiki!

Here are our students of the week - Nga Akonga o te Wiki! Baxter and Lucy are our Super Star Learners for Week 2 of Term 3.

Lucy is a super star learner because she is a fantastic role model.  She sits quietly, listens carefully, is really polite and finishes her work with pride!

Baxter is a super star learner this week because 

he is now sounding out letters in tricky words and having a go at spelling some words he is unsure of all on his own! 

Way to go Baxter and Lucy.

Ko tenei Te Wiki o te Reo Maori!

This is Maori Language Week!  During Maori Language Week everyone in Aotearoa, New Zealand is encouraged to give Maori Language a go.    In E6 we have been using te reo Maori wherever and whenever we can to help celebrate te wiki o te reo Maori.  We think we are pretty good at doing this any time of the year, but this week we have been trying even harder!

What have we done in E6 during Maori Language Week?

We have sung waiata.

We have greeted each other using te reo Maori.

We have used phrases and words like e tu, e noho 
and haere mai ki te whariki.

We have read some Maori Legends.

We practised the Maori version of our National Anthem,
 and our school song.

We are learning to introduce ourselves using te reo Maori.

Watch us singing our favourite waiata of the week - Tirama Tirama (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star).

100 Days at School

This week we have celebrated 100 days at school.  What a fabulous 100 days it has been in E6!  We have been so busy making amazing discoveries, trying new things out, building confidence, challenging ourselves, giving our very best and most importantly having fun!

We had a dress up day where we came dressed up as anything we could think of to do with 100!  Check out our gorgeous costumes.  Thank you to all the Mums and Dads and Grandmas and big sisters and brothers that helped us get ready to celebrate 100s day!

 

Riya has been so busy with her family thinking all about the learning she has done during her first 100 days at school.  Fabulous Costume Riya!  Rayan has 100 sticky stars all over his tummy and his back!

 

Wow! Navik has 100 pictures on his shirt! Dylan has 100 stickers all over his body!

 

Angelina's Grandma stitched the number 100 onto both sides of her cardigan - I can see the reflection of the number 100 on one side - can you?

Hunter looked fantastic in his special 'body board' showing some huge photocopied $100 notes.  

Mrs Graham wished they were real!

 

What a surprise we got when Baxter arrived at school! His hair had turned grey and he had a walking stick because he was a bit wobbly!  Baxter was 100 years old!

  

Ashley glued the number 100 to her sweatshirt and Lucy made flowers. Each flower 

was worth $100! 

Keira had bright colourful 100s all over her top and Lachlan made 100s day glasses.

Charli wore 100 Butterflies!

 

Emily and Carter made colourful 100s day crowns.

After Morning Tea all the junior classes took part in a 100s day parade.  B2 and Miss Harris lead our parade.  They had loud clackers and bells to let everyone know we were on our way around the school!  We enjoyed seeing each others creative costumes.  

We really did have a happy 100th day at school!  Our special hats we made say

"I am 100 days smarter" ... and we certainly are.  Mrs Henderson came to see us and told us to give ourselves a huge pat on the back for trying so hard to give our best always, and for the brilliant progress we have made at school so far.

Week One Super Stars

Congratulations to Navik and Keira who are our Super Star Learners for Week 1 of this term.

between words!
